If you haven’t already purchased healthcare by now, what are you waiting for?
If you are young and healthy, the only reason for health insurance is primarily for an unforseen injury and, since you have no idea when that might occur (outside of something like a skiiing trip), why would you risk waiting a month or so till the deadline? I’m sure there are some who will wait until the last minute, just because, but I’ll be very suprised if they enroll in anything approaching expectations between now and the end of March.
I also wonder what the breakdown between men and women enrollment is. I’ve seen some stats that show that enrollment of the 18-35 is around 20%-40% depending on location, but the percentage of those who are “low utilization” within that age group can handly be presumed to be more than 50% of the total, so young AND healthy enrollment must be at about 10%-20% or less.
